Laura :. Vital StatsWho am I? Uh, yeah, good question... My offline name is Laura, and I live and work in the craziness of Silicon Valley. My online name is Laranth. In my head, sometimes I think I'm a dragon. Thus, the name.
Ok, now you're asking "Where'd the dragons come from?" I blame it on all those fantasy books I read as a teen. I was impressionable. And dragons just stuck. So anyway, online and in my head, there's [[ dragons ]] lurking about.
I like scifi/fantasy, it's good for both escapism *and* for looking at the society you live in from a different angle. Like, say, what would happen if people had telepathy. Would people fight less or more? That kinda thing. So I've read a lot of books, and I had pretensions of being an artist. But now, I work in computers.
I've graduated from the EECS program at UC Berkeley. I'm currently employed as a Hardware Engineer for nVidia.
In my free time, I still read, but now I mess around on my computer much more than before college. I play computer games like World of Warcraft, and I design webpages, and I occasionally code random projects. Oh, and I pretend I know what I'm doing on Linux.
